Twitter for business

Are you using Twitter for a business or brand? If so, you'll know that the types of things you'll tweet will be very different from what someone with a personal account will tweet.

Business tweets should:

  • Be professional
  • Have a positive tone
  • Show how your brand brings value to the customer

What to tweet - solved

Needless to say, it's not always easy coming up with things to tweet when it's from the perspective of a business, organization or brand. Since Twitter and other social media is the public-facing side of your brand, you'll want to put your best foot forward.

Here at Zoads we solve the problem for you of what to tweet. On days when you can't seem to come up with anything to say, take a look at our free tweet generator above. If you like what's generated, there is a "Tweet it" button that will let you tweet it out.

If you'd rather generate a new tweet instead, simply press "Generate new" and you'll get a fresh option. You can generate as many as you'd like.

All of our tweets have the attributes listed that business tweets should have: professional, positive in tone, and showing that your brand helps the customer.

We've ensured that the tweets are suitable for virtually all types of businesses, no matter what your product or service is.

Our tweet generator is a supplement to your own tweets, not a replacement. You should still be tweeting out things that are highly specific to your brand, for example news, recent accomplishments, upcoming events, and so on. You'll find our tweets most helpful for those days when you need to come up with something but there just isn't much already happening on that particular day.

Using our tweets with a tweet scheduling service

If you use a tweet scheduler such as Buffer to plan tweets out ahead of time, you can still use our tweets with those.

In that situation, instead of pressing our "Tweet it" button, simply do copy-and-paste. Just copy the text that's in our tweet bubble (long tap on phone; highlight and press ctrl-c on computer). Then open up Buffer or your preferred tweet scheduler, and in the appropriate section paste the text (long tap again on phone; ctrl-v on computer).

How often to tweet

There is no hard-and-fast rule about how ofen your business should tweet. It all depends on the nature of the business. However, it should be on some sort of regular frequency. Depending on the brand, you may not need to tweet daily; depending on what your brand does, weekly may be enough.

What you don't want to do is to be irregular: tweeting daily for 3 days and then going a few weeks without tweeting is going to look unprofessional. Potential customers will wonder if this sort of hit-and-miss approach extends out to other areas of your business and they will start questioning your brand's reliability. Instead, it's far better to tweet consistently a few times a week - not the exact same days every time; you want to show some level of sponteneity.

If you are in the situation where you need to be tweeting daily for the brand, try to vary the times of day somewhat. Not only will it look more natural, but also it will allow you to reach more users, since not everyone will be on at one particular time. Be aware of time zone variations when it comes to timing; if you're trying to reach potential customers in another time zone, make sure your tweets aren't going out at 4am their time.

Have fun with it!

If you're in charge of social media for your business or organization, this should be where you get to have fun. It's so much more enjoyable for you if you're excited about what you'll be saying, and this positivity will also somehow come out through your tweets. Don't worry about what you're going to say. Remember, there's almost always something going on or upcoming with any brand so you've got lots of organic tweets just from that. And when you can't think of anything, we've got you covered!
